For 23 and 26 September 2006 :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my two favorite rock stars: Bruce Springsteen (23 September) and Marty Casey (26 September). May they enjoy their special days in the company of family and friends.

Now if only they would fly over here for even just a hole-in-the-wall concert. Or I'd renew my US visa, schedule my vacation leave and catch them in concert in one city in one month.

One can always dream...

A trial for my EQ

Okay, Rock Star: Supernova concludes next week and I am at a loss as to who will become the band's singer. The suspense is agonizing but watching the show week after week has proven that none of them can surpass the performances of Marty Casey in 2005. Well, my family and I are enjoying Magni's presence even if we know that he's not going to get the gig (Honestly not his loss). My money though is on Toby Rand only because Dilana can't write songs that everyone in Supernova likes and Lukas needs subtitles when he's on stage. Anyway, six nights more and this ordeal will be over. Besides, I filed for Vacation Leave just to indulge in the finale, heehee :)

My hair and body care regimen is killing my wallet

I recall having a cow last year about discovering a conditioner that suited my hair really well then was suddenly phased out. Now my dilemma is crazier: I found a line of products that super duper work well with me all around. Unfortunately, they're by L'Occitane en Provence and they cost an arm and a leg :( Still, to quote Calai, "I'd rather be poor but mabango." Yup, my priorities are in place ;)

An eye candy partnership

I admit it: I am a sucker for Gary Oldman :D He is such a fascinating character actor who brings a lot to his roles (Ben Chase, Sid Vicious, Dracula, Beethoven, Norman Stansfield, Sirius Black, or Lt. James Gordon to name a few). I'm also a fan of Nokia cellphones ;) A good cellphone is on my list of things I can't live without (up there with the parlor and guys with nice hands + eyes, haha!) So I've been grinning from ear to ear since I caught the N93 ad on TV. It's such a visual feast I don't think I'll ever tire of...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obMbxSTsF9Y (Pardon my ignorance, but I still have to figure out how to create links with our family Mac)

Picture talk

In this digital age I still enjoy the emotions evoked by a genuine photo print. I received a photo of Judy, my mentor from Monterey Bay Aquarium (California, USA), in the mail last month. We worked together for two months in 2001 as volunteers edutaining visitors on ocean conservation, but we do our best to keep in touch despite the distance. She recently walked her niece down the aisle at a beach wedding. Speaking of weddings, the other photo was taken at the wedding of a college blockmate. Emily, the girl beside me is another college blockmate whom I haven't seen in too long. We were the only people at our table (which was way too near the speakers) so we had an intimate photo with the newly married couple compared to the other tables. I guess photos and weddings evoke fun memories for everyone present (pre-throwing of the bouquet, of course) :D

May I take you order, Ma'am?

We recently had a busy morning at Palms Country Club. It was a holiday Monday when my sisters and I took Layla swimming then enjoyed breakfast with Mum and Tito Bruce at the Cafe. Here are some photos of Layla 'studying' the menu. If I didn't know any better I would've thought she had happily decided what she really wanted to have that day ;)
